The Washington State University Research Foundation (WSURF) administers development of University inventions (see also 35.50). WSURF distributes royalties and other payments to University units and inventors as follows:

Payment to inventor upon filing the patent application (incentive for preparing the application).

University-Owned Invention

The inventor receives a payment of $500.

Partially Owned by the University

The inventor receives a sum equal to $500 multiplied by the percentage of
the University's interest.

Example: 25% x $500 = $125

ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGE

WSURF-Administered Property

WSURF retains 40 percent of the total amount received to pay administrative costs.

Administered by Other Development Organizations

WSURF retains five percent of the total amount received.
