Photo project Grading Criteria :

Overview:

Your photo collection demonstrates that you have observed and understood your surroundings by recognizing features or processes around you and are able to accurately interpret the underlying geological principles by which they were created.

Your photo collection must cover two or more topic areas (ex: glaciers, rivers, earthquakes, deserts, etc.).  In your photo collection, you need to identify and describe at least 25 different features and/or processes. Duplicated features and/or processes will not count toward the total.  One photo often contains several features or processes.

·        Each photo or photo area must be labeled with its location (so I could find it on a map).

·        For each photo, correctly identify the geologic features, add observations/descriptions as necessary, and explain the relevant rock type, features and or processes involved.

The other particulars:

If you are trying to identify a particular rock type or special small scale feature then close-up photos showing sufficient detail are required to support your interpretation (mineral, rock type or detailed feature identification).  I must be able to determine from your photo the correctness of your identification and interpretation.

Only one photo of your entire photo collection must have you in it.

All photos must be original, taken by you or when you were present.  Photos can be taken at any location except along the Moscow-Pullman highway or within Pullman. Photos from prior trips are acceptable with permission.  No internet photos, except for location maps (ex. Google images) are allowed.

Grammar and spelling must be accurate.  Use your computer or dictionary to spell-check words so I don’t have to guess at what you mean or become distracted by frequent errors.

Organize your photo collection in a logical way (could be by location, by topic, etc.).

If you are hand labeling and annotating the photos then write legibly and in an organized fashion.

You are encouraged to be creative in the way that you present particular photos or design the whole project.

Include only photos of acceptable quality (ex. no blurry photos taken of a road cuts as you drive by at 60mph, no photos of outcrops taken at night under headlights of your vehicle).
