Research Interests:

Cells respond to environmental or developmental signals by reprogramming the expression of specific genes throughout their genome. We in the Wyrick lab wish to understand the mechanisms by which this occurs. To do so, we are using DNA microarray analysis to decipher how gene expression is regulated in the model eukaryote, S. cerevisiae. Ongoing projects include: (1) Using DNA microarrays to profile genome-wide mRNA levels in histone mutant strains; (2) Analysis of global protein-DNA interactions, particularly for yeast transcription factors; (3) Building bioinformatics software to analyze microarray data, including an online microarray database; and (4) Developing new functional genomic tools to investigate changes in global chromatin structure.
