Lake
View from the deck of my place at the lake. Gorgeous, isn't it?
Hi! If you are looking at this page, it must be summer. You are probably trying to find me and not succeeding. Correct?
The reason I am difficult to find is that I am here, sitting on my deck, with a margarita in one hand and a good book in the other. Sound good? It is, trust me. And best of all--there's no phone!
A brief explanation: I work on a nine-month contract. I don't get paid to work in the summer. Where would you be if you weren't getting paid? Slaving away in a hot office? I think not...
If you absolutely, positively need to reach me...
If finding me is a matter of life or death, the following options are available to you:
- Stop by my office on a Wednesday afternoon. I might be there, I might not, but it's your best chance of actually seeing me in person. If I am not there, pin a message to my bulletin board or slip a note under the door--and hope the janitor doesn't sweep it up.
- Call my office phone (335-7996) and leave a message via friendly and infuriatingly slow voice mail. I will return your call as soon as I retrieve my messages--which I do at least once a week, unless I am out of town, which I often am.
- Call the History department (335-5139) and leave a message with one of the secretaries. She will place it in my box and I will get it the next time I stop by--whenever that is.
- Write me a letter. My address is 341 Wilson Hall. I will get it the next time I collect my mail--usually every week or two (but no guarantees).
- Ask yourself, "Just how important is this, anyway? Do I really need to see Dr. Meyer this summer?" Then answer yourself. (Hint: the correct answers are "Not very" and "No," in that order.) Come see me in the fall. I'll be back in my office every day, starting the first week of classes. Heck, I might even put in an appearance or two the week before classes, you never know.
Meanwhile, have a nice summer. I plan to.
