Human Issues in Horticulture Working Group Minutes, 2000

Those present were:
Jennifer Bradley, Chair,  presiding.

Elections for the Chair-Elect position (2003-2004) were made, and it was moved and passed that Susan Hamilton would serve in that position.  Denny Schrock will take over as Chair for the 2001-2002 term.

Discussion was made regarding the 2001 meetings.  Diane Relf spoke about a workshop that was planned for the meetings that would involve collaborative research.  She mentioned a possible speaker being Bridget Behe.

Discussion was made regarding the 2002 (international) meetings in Toronto.  Diane Relf discussed a colloquium and a symposium that are planned.  The colloquium would include 3 key speakers.  E.O. Wilson has agreed to talk and Bette Midler and Countess Bernedotte have expressed interest so it has been made into the Plenary
colloquium to stand alone the first day.  The symposium will have up to 16 additional speakers and a poster session.   In addition, the International Organizing Committee is considering requesting a Workshop that would focus on cooperative efforts among many different associations. An official move was made and approved that the HIH working group would co-sponsor the colloquium and symposium

It was mentioned that Virginia Lohr had finished the HIH web page and that official notices would be posted there. 

Jennifer Bradley agreed to secure an e-mail listing of all members of the working group.  Correspondence among the members was encouraged.
