Leaves and stems |
Simple leaves with fine teeth. Medium green during the summer, turning red and orange in the fall. Bark is smooth and gray. |
Flowers |
Tree is covered with loose clusters of small white flowers in early spring before the leaves emerge. Some cultivars have pink color in the bud stage. |
Fruit |
Pea-sized fruit follow the flowers on some cultivars. Fruit turns red and then blackish. Slightly sweet and edible. |
