Biography
Hsueh-Ping Meier, a senior student at Washington State University,
is majoring in Apparel Merchandising and Textiles. As a
Chinese person born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, Hsueh-Ping is
the youngest of five children. During and after her high
school years she worked for several clothing companies as an assistant
fashion designer and fashion illustrator. Hsueh went to
Hawaii to study English as a second language after she finished
high school.
Between
1992 and 1993, she attended Miles Community College in Miles City,
Montana. Hsueh then returned to Taiwan for the next 3 years
to be with her family. Hsueh returned to Montana once again
in the summer 1996 and completed her last year of community college.
Later that year she was married in November 1996 to an American
citizen.
Seeing
fashion design as her future career, Hsueh continued pursuing
her dream of becoming a successful fashion designer. Hsueh
and her husband took a vacation in the summer of 1997 with the
intention of looking at colleges in Washington State while looking
into what Washington State University had offered. Hsueh
then moved from Miles City to Spokane. After working for
a year in Spokane, Hsueh finally pursued her education in Pullman,
Washington in January 1999 as an undergraduate student.
At this point, Hsueh has been an undergraduate teaching assistant
for three semesters, and she still works hard to achieve her goal
and looks forward to enrolling in graduate studies.
