Brief Biography
I am indigenous to the island of Belau in Micronesia, although I did enjoy the privilege of acquiring part of my junior high and high school education on Guam and Hawaii. My college career began at Walla Walla College until I transfered to WSU in 1997. At that time I became actively involved in various Asian American Pacific Islander Student Organizations such as A.P.A.S.C. and A.P.A.W. Two of my most remarkable experiences included co-organizing and coordinating the first C.A.P.T.I.V.A.T.E Women's Conference at WSU and helping to establish the Micronesian Student Association of WSU. After a 3-year run with Shopko Corporation, where I worked my way up to an Assistant Team Leader (manager), I returned to WSU in the Spring of 2002. Since then, my academic interests have shifted significantly towards ethnic studies, specifically sovereignty and indigenous rights issues, colonialism and globalization, in conjunction with women's rights and social issues. Some of my other interests include scuba diving, canoing, swimming, plants, scrapbooking, cooking, reading and social justice activism. I am also a huge fan of Bob Marley and Harry Potter. My future goals are to successfully complete a Ph.D and become an activist in higher education or in politics.
