Involvement
Exploring various aspects of Native American leadership and community involvement, there are six Native student organizations on campus, each with its own unique focus.  In addition to personal development, the Native organizations also fulfill an important social need in the local Native community. For meeting times please call the association.

 

AISES
The American Indian Science and Engineering Society’s focus is to increase the number of American Indian scientists and engineers and to develop technological leaders within the Indian community.  Open to all fields, members are committed to promoting self-reliance and self-determination for all Native American. AISES is a national private nonprofit organization with an active chapter at WSU. AISES members are committed to professional development, networking, leadership development, and community service.

ASWSU KU-AU-MAH
Ku-Au-Mah, which means cougar in the Nez Perce language, promotes awareness of Native American cultures and issues.  Annual events include the Pah-Loots-Pu Celebration and Native American History Month.  Everyone is welcome.

NAGAPSS
The Native American Graduate and Professional Student Society coordinates activities of interest for Native  Graduate and professional students including forums to discuss projects relating to Native communities and research areas.

NAWA
The Native American Women’s Association addresses the needs and concerns of Native American people with a special emphasis on issues that affect Native American women. NAWA sponsors and organizes programs which encourage minority women to assume leadership roles on campus. The Association sponsors social, cultural, and educational activities. NAWA also co-sponsors the Pah-Loots-Pu Celebration and Native American Heritage Month.

Palouse Falls Intertribal
Also known as the Warriors Society, the drum group provides an opportunity for the cultural expression of Native pride through music.

Native American Alliance
An umbrella organization for all of the Native groups, Native American Alliance is the primary fundraiser for various activities throughout the year.  NAA also provides a forum to discuss campus issues effecting Native Students and selects student representatives to the Native American Advisory Council to the Provost.
