The mission of WSU's Office of Intellectual Property Administration ("OIPA") is to serve WSU and its employees with respect to all intellectual property matters arising during their employment. OIPA's objectives are to:
  • Encourage the disclosure of intellectual properties under the terms of WSU's Intellectual Property policy;
  • Provide assistance to WSU employees who wish to file invention disclosures;
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of the commercial potential of disclosed intellectual property;
  • Recommend that the Washington State University Research Foundation seek protection for selected intellectual properties;
  • Advise WSU's Office of Grant and Research Development and other WSU administrative offices regarding intellectual property matters; and
  • Staff the Washington State University Research Foundation.
