Each of the above has advantages and disadvantages. For example, A provides a definition for “frequency ” but not “frequency response” whereas C provides a definition for “frequency response.” A,B and C are good for simple definitions, but D is good for explaining the applications of technical devices.

Goal: To understand some security issues around technologies, and to get a basic understanding of the how to copyright, trademark your work, along with some copying issues.

2. Do you have virus and spyware protection? Should you?
3. Do you leave passwords on your computer? Should you?
4. What other security issues are there besides viruses and spyware?
5. What restrictions does WSU place upon student use (and employee use) of its technologies?
6. If Joey wanted to put the WSU logo onto the COM 260 web page is that legal? Why/why not?
7. If Joey wanted to put the WSU logo onto his blog on MySpace.com is that legal? Why/why not?
8. What is a copyright? What work does it protect?
9. What do you have to do to copyright your original work? Do you have to register it?
10. Is it OK to use a copyrighted work (like the Disney picture of Mickey Mouse) in your web page as long as you don’t charge money or restrict access to your page?
11. If you have an idea for a design of a webpage but you have not created the webpage yet, can you still copyright that idea to protect you from others stealing your idea?
12. What is a trademark? What does it protect?
13. What do you have to do to trademark your work? Do you have to register it?
