President

David Seamans

      After serving two years as our Vice-President, David moved into the presidency this year. He was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas.image After spending a year in the Navy, he entered into undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas, where he earned a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. After two years with Black & Veatch, Consulting Engineers, he did graduate work at the University of Kansas and then joined the Electrical Engineering Department at WSU in 1954. He retired in 1992, but continued to teach part-time for another five years. David and his late wife, Saralou, had two children: John Seamans, of Pullman, and Ruth Devlin, of Bozeman, Montana. Dave remains active serving the Association, singing in the choir at St. James' Episcopal Church, and playing in the Pullman Concert Band.

Judy Sorem


      Judy LaFollette Sorem was born and grew up in Madison, Wis. After two years at Reed College, a year at the U of Wisconsin, and a secretarial   image course in New York City, she moved to Minneapolis, where she worked for Sears and met and married Ronald Sorem, a geologist. After two years in the Philippines, where Kaia was born, the Sorems returned to Madison, where Ron earned a PhD and Keith and Sam were born. They moved to Pullman in 1959, where Ron joined the WSU Geology Department and Tom was born. Judy taught beginning piano at home for ten years and worked at various jobs both off and on campus. She eventually enrolled at WSU, earned a BA in 1979 and an MA in English in 1981. She taught one year at the College of Eastern Utah and ten years in the English Department at WSU. The Sorems were divorced in 2000. Judy, who retired in 1994, likes to sew, read, attend concerts and plays, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy church activities.

 June Harbour
  
      June, a Northwest native, was born near Goldendale, Wash., attended schools in that area and graduated from Washington State  image College in 1943. She entered the workforce as a teacher in Ridgefield, Wash., but then married Richard Harbour, an officer in the Army Signal Corps, whom she had met at WSC. After the war, Richard completed his degree at WSC and joined the faculty in Electrical Engineering, where he remained until his death in 1972. The Harbours have eight children. Though widely scattered, visiting them gives June an excuse to enjoy travel she had planned for in retirement. June worked many years in offices on the WSU Campus, namely, those of Assistant to the President, Museum of Art, Computer Sciences, and Technical Services. Currently, she is Treasurer for the Pullman Senior Citizens and Publicity Chair for Sacred Heart Seniors and AARP.

Arline Bruehl


      Arline, the youngest of three sisters, was born on a farm near Nunda, S. Dak. She attended high school in Rutland, S. Dakota.image before entering South Dakota State College (now University), at Brookings, where she studied Home Economics and met her husband, George (Bill) Bruehl. Daughter Janet was born in Brookings, where they had lived three years, and son Walter, in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. They lived there for two years before Bill took a position in the Department of Plant Pathology at WSU in 1954. Arline was a homemaker until her daughter   reached 18. She then worked as Secretary for the Pullman School District, the Trinity Lutheran Church, and in Communications, Anthropology, and Home Economics on the WSU campus. Since retiring in 1990, she has kept busy with volunteer and committee work for several organizations. She and Bill have four grandchildren.
