FINAL PROGRAM
The Final Program for the conference is now posted on the web site it is current as of April 1. Several changes have been made since the Final Program was originally published on on March 18. Please note that the program is divided into oral and poster sessions. The oral sessions are listed by session and day/time. Two parallel sessions (Sections I and II) will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and sessions which run parallel have been selected to avoid overlap as much as possible. Papers in the poster sessions are grouped by topic (similar to the oral session topics) and listed in order of LOG number within each topic. Any changes to this Final Program will be announced and posted at the conference. No further changes will be posted on this web site. Abstracts of all the papers are published in the Final Program and Abstracts Book and can viewed prior to the conference.
INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS AND FOR PREPARING PRESENTATIONS
Four copies of a draft of each paper presented at the conference must be handed in at the conference. This will facilitate review of the paper for publication in the conference Proceedings in the Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry. Instructions for the preparation of the draft paper should be consulted. Information on the preparation of papers for oral and poster presentation should also be reviewed prior to the conference, particularly the section on LCD-computer presentations.
CONFERENCE DATES AND LOCATION
Like previous MARC conferences, MARC VI will be held at the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel (http://www.konabeachhotel.com/) in beautiful Kailua-Kona on the Big island of Hawai'i, April 7 - 11 2003. The conference location provides a relaxed atmosphere the conference activities as well as many shopping and tourist activities within walking distance of the hotel. Very attractive room rates will be offered during and after the conference. A full social program will be provided to participants and their guests
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE CONFERENCE The conference will continue the tradition set by the five previous MARC conferences by focussing on emerging developments in radioanalytical chemistry and radiochemistry, with particular emphasis on new applications.The conference includes both oral and poster sessions grouped around specific topics. Poster sessions are organized around specific themes, similar, or in addition, to those included in the oral sessions. Poster papers in these topics will be grouped together which will permit informal group discussions of specific papers. Continuing the policy of previous MARC conferences, papers presented at the conference will be published in a peer-reviewed journal, probably in the serial volumes of The Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry.
The objective of the MARC conferences is to promote a broad interchange of information on radioanalytical chemistry among scientists from participating countries. Participants from more than 35 countries are expected to attend MARC VI and give papers. The central geographic location of Hawaii encourages participation and attendance of scientists from Pacific Rim countries as well as providing European scientists with easy accessibility from major US airports. The isolated nature of Kailua-Kona on the Island of Hawaii provides an excellent atmosphere for informal discussions and working groups among the anticipated 250-300 attending scientists and also provides excellent recreational facilities for participants and guests.
SPECIAL EVENTS2003 HEVESY AWARD
The 2003 HEVESY Medal Award, sponsored by the Journal of
Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry will be presented at the MARC VI conference to
Dr. Jeroen J.M. de Goeij, Delft University of Technology, THE NETHERLANDS. The
award recognizes his outstanding contributions to radioanalytical chemistry and
radiochemistry and it will be presented at the opening session of the conference on Monday
morning, April 7.
IN MEMORIAM - VINCENT P. GUINN
Vincent P. Guinn, one of the pioneers in the development of
activation analysis and radioanalytical chemistry passed away at his home in Maryland at
the age of 85 on November 7 after a short illness. Vince was a great friend,
colleague and mentor to many of us and he was always a strong supporter of the MARC
conferences. Vince will be honored at MARC VI: the conference will be dedicated to

MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
IN NUCLEAR SCIENCE
The special session and panel discussion on the
manpower needs in nuclear science and the challenges facing radiochemistry education
(organized by Rolf Zeisler, NIST, and Sue Clark, WSU, see above) will highlight problems
and challenges facing many countries with active nuclear science programs. Several
funding agencies and international organizations, e.g. USDOE, IAEA, will be
represented. This session and panel discussion will be of broad interest to
participants in the MARC VI conference.

A limited number of copies of the four-volume set of Proceedings are available for purchase. Abstracts of papers presented at MARC IV can be accessed by clicking on abstracts. The Proceedings of MARC III
