bad day

we all have bad days now and then.

today was a bad day for me. I don't really know why.

class was easy... hell, I even finished my homework in astronomy that is due next friday...

I got 7 hours of sleep... I took a 2.5 hour nap... work was cake, sorta annoying because it was so easy though...

I hate how one section of your life can take over the rest. and how something simple can ruin part of your life... friggin snowball effects. lol.

life is ok... I just need to wake up tomorrow and start a new day. ever have that feeling? I hope so.(not so that you feel like crap, but so that I'm not alone in ever feeling this way, lol)

I need to simplify my life.

growth

I didn't procrastinate today! w00t!

I finished my arch hw before 12! WTF! I usually start at 12!

I sorta took a shortcut on the hw, but I got one model that looks AWESOME, so I'm really happy, I am actually kinda excited to take it in, have it critiqued and ripped apart so that I can improve it. weird.

schatzer out.

more fun with sleep schedules

so over the last week and a half, I've been getting 2-4 hours of sleep a night, taking a 2-3 hour nap during the day, and then sleeping the crap out of the weekend(when I can)

so that's fun.

architecture is nuts.

that's all I've got for now.

beauty

My first thought was of my mentor’s words when asked about beauty. My mentor said “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” All people have bias due to their nurture and society. People find beauty in places that they are able to feel safe and are able to think about the beauty of their atmosphere (the objects around them). When the brain is focused on thought processes not correlating to the beauty of its surroundings, the beauty is missed. People are able to feel safe when their environment is similar to that of another environment in their past that they felt safe. For me, for example, I find beauty in brickwork (my elementary school was brick) and also in woodwork (I grew up in a woodsy area). I do not expect my bias for these things to be the same as a person’s from another country, or even a person from another part of the United States.

A fact that does transcend societies and cultures is something I learned in Biology 101; like other animals, humans find beauty in symmetry. This is a natural attraction that is found in nature. I find that in my own bias, I find symmetrical architecture mysteriously more beautiful than non-symmetrical architecture. However, with art now in the post-modern era, full of abstract and representational art, some societies are nurturing people to find beauty in non-symmetrical objects.

When I think of how many times I’ve had a discussion with my friends about how beautiful a certain object is, my mentor’s words come into my head and I realize that while no one could ever make an object that is beautiful to everyone, there is the possibility, within societies to make something that is socially beautiful for that particular society. This is why I believe that art, buildings, advertisements, and celebrities all over the world are different.

that was my short essay for beauty for arch 103. this is part of my hw for tonight. let me know your thoughts.

spring break

who wants to go to paris with me for spring break?

my spring break is march 13-18th I believe.

busy busy whoops.

well it seems that a new semester is here...

I have 3 actual classes and 3 p.e. classes... which makes me a fulltime student. barely. goodtimes.

today I sort of cleaned my room... it's getting there, but there is still a lot of flower wallpaper... I've begun the switch to covering it. thanks to brandon and ryan, that was a little easier. and elyse is gonna chip in too.

if you have any old calendars or posters you don't want... give them to me! or send em to me if you live far away.(email me if you need my address)

anyways, a new semester/quarter(whatever) is here and all the people I've talked to so far all say that they're gonna be really busy.

so, since my semester shouldn't be too friggin hard, I'm gonna try to get a second job and make some money this semester, which is a good idea.

later people. oh, another thing I'm gonna try to do is wake up earlier. oh, and work out in the mornings.
