Hufford
Lab:
Research
in the Hufford lab centers on phylogenetic analysis to resolve
questions about the evolutionary diversity of flowering plants.
We use molecular systematics to answer questions about evolutionary
relationships and contribute to the revision of taxonomic classifications.
Phylogeny reconstructions are applied in analyses of morphological
diversity and biogeography. We approach morphological diversity
by asking how patterns of diversity arise via evolutionary transformations
of development. Our research on biogeography is centered primarily
on the American West with the goal using comparative phylogeography
to understand the origins of western floras.
The Hufford
lab staff can by found on the People
