Evertt Beidler: Research and Development

Portland, OR artist Evertt Beidler, produces sculpture, and performance work that explores the areas in our lives where catharsis, performance, and ritual converge to function as agents of transformation.
Exchange Economy: Prints by International Artists
October 6 – October 24
Opening Reception: Wednesday, October 8th. 4:30-6:30pm.
Walkthrough with Fine Arts Professor Kevin Haas at 5pm.
This exhibit will feature works from five different portfolios of prints produced by artists throughout the US and abroad. Each portfolio explores a different theme from issues concerning our built environment, to border crossings, to our dependence on technology.
Adam Davis: Binding With Briars
October 29 – December 12
Opening Reception: Wednesday, October 29th. 5-6pm.
In this exhibition, Los Angeles based mixed media artist, and Scripps College Visiting Assistant Professor, Adam Davis, presents us with a body of work that explores representations and constructions of masculinity with a focus upon adolescent desires and sexuality.

Heidi Arbogast investigates the role of photography as a time based medium. She sees the photograph as a memory index, one that conjures deep emotion and intensifies our connection to a place or to ourselves.

Artist Trust Workshop: How to Build a Strong Grant Application
Tuesday, November 18th. 7-9pm
Fine Arts Auditorium.
Monica Miller, Artist Trust's Director of Programs, will present information on how to apply for grants successfully. The workshop will give tips on preparing a strong grant application, including "do’s and don'ts" for work samples, artist résumés, project proposals, and more.The workshops is free but pre-registration is required. Gallery 3 is a student run gallery. For more information on scheduling exhibits, please contact the Fine Arts office.
The exhibition and Visiting Artist Program for the department is extensive and reflective of a commitment to issues of diversity, gender and contemporary practices in the visual arts. Exhibiting artists, many of international stature, represent different cultures and artistic points of view. They provide personal critiques to the graduate students, give public lectures, and conduct seminars discussing career activities and their work.
