History club is an organization for students of all ages (and even the occasional faculty member). All majors are welcome--all you need is an interest in history. The only requirement is a minimum gpa of 2.0. We suggest a donation of $2.50 to $5.00 per year for dues.
Last year students in History Club were involved in a variety of social, educational, and service activities. Members enjoyed our annual Halloween and Christmas Parties and Beginning- and End-of-School Picnics; they created and sold History T-shirts, helped at the Phi Alpha Theta Book Sale, and manned phones during pledge week for KWSU. Every year we sponsor a History Club Lecture and Discussion Series--at least one per semester, sometimes more. Last year's topics were: "Roman Mathematics and Finger-Counting," by Dr. Richard Williams; and "The Sexual Peccadilloes of the Presidents," by Dr. Leroy Ashby. In May we challenged the Geology Club to a softball game (the outcome of which is best not discussed here). All in all, History Club is fun, inexpensive, and educational. Next year we are hoping to put together fall and spring exchanges with the History Clubs at the WSU branch campuses.
