FOR TEXT ON MAC #8 or #15

Two Options: OmniPage Pro or Direct

1. Turn on the Scanner FIRST.

2. Turn on the Mac and monitor.

3. Open the Chooser and click on LaCie Scan. The selection SCSI ID#6 should appear highlighted on the right side; if it is not, then highlight it. Close the Chooser.

4. Pull down the Apple menu and select the alias for OmniPage Pro 6.0. If you wish to use OmniPage Direct Input, turn to the back of this handout and begin with #3.

5. Make sure the tool bar is showing (if not, go under WINDOW and turn it on.)

6. Place sheet of paper to be scanned face down on scanner, centered according to arrows.

7. To make any desired changes for the scan format, click on Settings Panel under the menu Settings: for example, to scan dot matrix characters, click on OCR in the left column and at Input Options select Character Type Normal. Select OCR-A Font only if all the characters are in this font, such as part numbers.

8. Click Auto on Toolbar. This will automatically scan your page(s) without having to click on zones or character recognition. If you don't select Auto, then you must click on each button representing the three steps in the scanning process.

9. If you have more pages to scan, change the page on the scanner and click Auto.

10. Select File/Save As... and select format for document, either ASCII or Microsoft Word 5.1 or 6.0.1 (or other format as needed).

8. If you have opened a formatted document (rather than a new empty untitled one), insert the cursor at the place in your document where you want the scanned text to appear.
