1. Open a new Excel document.
2. In the "A" Column enter the category text (i.e., Grades).Leave a row at the top if needed for other classifications (i.e., years).In this example, grades are compared for a single class over three years.

3. Enter the corresponding column data for each category.
4. Once the data is entered highlight the portion you would like to useto make a graph.
(A1:D7 [$A$1:$D$7 in Excel notation] in this example)
5. Once that is done click on the Auto ChartWizard Icon: ![]()
6. The Cursor is then changed into this icon: ![]()
7. Click on the highlighted table and follow the Wizard Instructions.
8. On Step 4 of 5 in the Wizard make the following choices:
You can play with these options to customize the graph even further.
9. On Step 5 of 5 in the Wizard you are asked to label your graph andthe axes. The preview screen will let you see if you have labeled thingsthe way you want. You also have the opportunity to add a legend. A legenddefines what each color in your graph stands for.

10. Graphs can be edited by double clicking on them. This puts the graphin edit mode. You can edit things like text, color, line size, and patternsby double clicking on the part of the graph you want to edit.
