Using Microsoft PowerPoint


PowerPoint is a very powerful presentationtool. You can easily create presentations with graphics, charts, animatedtext, sound and video clips to effectively convey your message.

 

 Open Microsoft PowerPoint from the Microsoft Office icon in the upper right-handcorner of the screen.
 From the New Presentation menu choose Template (you may wantto choose a blank presentation in the future).
 Open a template from the On Screen & 35 mm Slides folder. Choosea layout for your presentation.
 Next you will need to choose a layout for your slide. Pick one from theNew Slide window.

Toolbar

  
 Arrow to move objects. 
 Used to enter text. Used to rotate objects.
 Creates oval shapes. Creates rectangle shapes.
 Creates freeform shapes. Selects a generated shape.
 Draws lines. Creates an arc.
  Places a shadow behind an object. Changes the color of a shadow.
 Fills an object with color. Changes the color of a fill.
 Places an outline around an object.  Changes the color of an outline.
  


Views

View options are located on the lower left-hand side of the screen. Descriptionsof the views are as follows:
Slide ViewThis view will let you see and edit what the slide will look like duringa presentation.
 Outline View This view will show you the text and transitions for each slide.
Slide Sorter This view will show you a mini version of the slide and will allowyou to arrange the order of the slides in the presentation.
Notes  This view will let you add speaker's notes to a slide.
Slide Show This will let you see the finished slide show.


Animating Text

 Check the Build body text box to add text one line at a time.
Check Dim Previous Points to change old text to the color in the box whennew text appears.
Check the effect box to change the way the text enters the screen.


Transitions and Running a Slide Show

 Transitions are most easily created in the Slide Sorter View. Simply highlightthe slide you want to change the transition for and click the transitionbutton. You will then have several choices as to how the transition willoccur.
 To run a slide show go to the View menu and select Slide Show.Enter the parameters you want and click OK.
