Submission Information for Contributors
The Western Journal of Black Studies (WJBS) is the leading interdisciplinary journal devoted to publishing scholarly articles that focus on issues related to the African Dispora and the experiences of African Americans in the United States. All manuscripts are subject to the blind review process.
Submission Guidelines:
•Electronic submissions are strongly preferred and should be provided in Rich Text or Microsoft Word format; send by email attachment to the Editors at wjbs@wsu.edu.
Print submissions should include two copies of the typescript as well as provisions for the return of one copy, if desired; address to the Editors, WJBS, 700 Cleveland Hall Washington State University, Pullman, Washington 99164-2103. In aid of WJBS's commitment to double-blind review, the author's name should not appear on the essay itself. Time of report is two to four months.
• Include a separate title page that lists all authors, departmental affiliations, and a mailing address for correspondence. Because of the blind review process, the only place the author's name may appear is on a separate title page.
• Manuscripts should be approximately 5 to 25 pages (i.e. no more than 3,000 words, including references) and must contain an abstract of approximately 120 words.
• It is the author's responsibility to secure permission to reproduce quoted text, tables or figures from a copyrighted source. If it is required, the author(s) must obtain written permission and enclose a copy with your manuscript submission.
• Upon acceptance, all authors will be required to sign a copyright transfer agreement with The Western Journal of Black Studies.
• Authors of accepted manuscripts will receive notification of acceptance and instructions for publication (e.g., revisions needed before publication, camera-ready figures, cd version of manuscript, etc.)
