Case: John Martin is a retired stock broker. He is 76 years old. Two months ago John suffered a stroke that resulted in expressive aphasia, right sided paralysis and emotional lability. He is alert and oriented. His wife attempted to care for him at home but became exhausted and admitted him to a long-term care facility. Prior to this stroke he was an avid reader who belonged to a senior book club. He volunteered for SCORE (Senior Corps of Retired Executives) assisting small businesses to improve their management. He was active in the Rotary Club and he regularly took his grandchildren fishing. During the summer months he and his wife Arbella, drove their motor home all over the USA to visit family and friends. After 50 years of marriage the Martins enjoyed and active and satisfying sex life. John has always been a snappy dresser who was proud of his slim figure.
