WSU Faculty Salary Report 2007
An ad hoc committee of
the
Faculty Senate at Washington State
University was appointed in Spring 2007 by the Senate's Executive
Committee to prepare a report on the status of faculty
salaries. The Faculty Salary Committee met over six months.
A report was submitted on October 2, 2007, with revisions on
October 29. Principal editors of the report were Gary Collins and Lisa Fournier. Below, you will
find the committee's charge, membership, and links to the final report
and powerpoint presentation delivered to the Senate on November 8,
2007.
Charge to the Committee
1. Provide an accurate protrait of present salaries and update
information in the previous report using the services of Institutional
Research.
2. Quantify the present status of faculty salaries, including
salaries in upper ranks, and address issues of compression and
inversion.
3. Examine the salary situation of temporary and
non-tenure-track faculty members.
4. Based on the portrait, suggest potential solutions to
identified problems.

Further developments (December 2008)
Taking the report into account, the Faculty Affairs Committee of the
Senate proposed a new salary allocation policy to the Senate that
was approved by a vote of 30:22 on April 3, 2008. Further
